5 Fun things to do in New Mexico

We went to New Mexico in 2016 and it is one of my favorite trips because we didn’t have any expectations. Here are six things that we did that made the trip incredible.

  1. Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument: They have a few hikes under two miles and different views throughout the hike.

2. See the largest pistachio! I’ve always been a fan of roadside attractions and this is a great way to break up a drive.

3. Backcountry Camp in White Sands NM. These passes were first come first serve so make sure to get to the park when it opens. It was such an incredible experience felt like sleeping on the moon. Don’t forget to bring a sled to slide down the sand dunes.

4. Visit Carlsbad Caverns: This is a national park so if you have been seeking out those this will help you cross it off the list. Make sure to hike down in the cave and explore and for an added challenge hike back out instead of riding the elevator back up.

5. Hike Sandia Peak: This hike was absolutely stunning. There is also a tramway if want to use that to get to the summit. There is even a restaurant at the top and the sunsets are beautiful. We hiked the La Luz trail but be careful we needed micro-spikes when doing this trail in March.
